Do you know what happens when you lift weights? When you wake up the next morning and you're sore? Do you know why? When workout, especially when you do some weightlifting, you use utilize your muscles to lift weight that is heavier than your muscles are used to lifting. So to compensate, they work harder, tearing  themselves apart in the process.

In case you weren't aware, muscules are made out of tightly wooven protein fibers. Whey protein comes in many different forms. The most common is the powder.. Usually accompanied by a 35 gram scoop, each scoop varies in amount of protein 15-40 grams is the most common. I myself take Whey everyday. My Muscle Milk uses 16 grams per scoop and I take two scoops at once. I tend to drink a shake before and after workouts and sometimes before bed for a late night snack.

Now you are supposed to take enough protein to conpensate for the damage you have caused them while woking out. Although you are not supposed to only use the whey protein to acheive your daily protein count, if you are trying to make some gains in the gym, you would want to take in 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight. Right now, I weigh 225. So everyday, together with whey protein as well as my meals, I try to take in at least 225 grams of proteins a day. Whey Protein can also be purchased from pretty much anywhere, Besides the traditional vitamin and health stores and popular chains, you can also purchase jars of Whey at most grocery stores.
