Last week, I met Jack, a healthcare consultant from New Jersey. In a standing ad on Craig's List, I told the world that I was looking for men of all ages, shapes, sizes, and races to profile on Body of Life. That is when Jack contacted me. When he sent me his photos via his first responding email, I knew that I had to feature him on this website. At 45-years old, Jack is in incredible shape, and not just for a 45-year old man, but even for a 17-year old boy. Unlike most of us who are constantly seeking to improve our physical standing, Jack is a wonderful example of someone who has from an early age gotten himself in great shape, and found the dedication and discipline to stay in great shape. By living a good and healthy lifestyle, he has forged for himself a timeless Adonis physique. In regards to his fitness expertise during our initial phone interview, Jack told me:
It would be good to profile other guys as well because one thing I can't really give great advice about is losing a ton of weight. Because my physique is the result of maintaining life long good fitness habits, I can't say that I have ever really been in a position where I found myself to be out of shape and in need of a weight loss solution. But What I can say for the younger guys out there, is that you should make fitness apart of your life from the very start and don't overdue it. With proper maintenance, you can bring with you a healthy good looking body to the future.

A few times a year Jack competes in marathons. During his training cycle, he completes his runs at 10 miles at a time, while in his off season, he would run 5-7 miles. His workout sessions usually go from an hour to an hour and a half, with moderate to heavy weight training as well. When I asked him what part of his body he tends to focus on the most, he said that lately his arms, chest and shoulders, since he wants to add more muscle mass to his upper body. The photographs of Jack above were taken earlier this year. The pictures below were snapped last night at my request at the last minute to put on this Body of Life post.
If I had to chose one word to describe Jack, it would be DISCIPLINED. He takes his fitness very seriously, and he takes care to prevent himself from slacking off. This is the type of guy that all the guys at your 20-year high school reunion would hate for not only being able keep themselves in remarkable shape, but look even better than most of them did when they were still high school students. But one other asset that Jack has under his belt is a good set of genetics. Now listen to me, in fitness when one hears the word genetics, most tend to think that a good body is unobtainable. Maybe because they are looking around and being a little critical of their closest relations. But it's not true. Sure genetics play a good part in how your body appears and what you must do in order to obtain it, but it does not mean that your hot dream body is out of your reach. The whole reason why I decided to profile guys on this site was to try and present good examples of different people trying to reach essentially the same goal: an awesome physique, yet because everyone is different, their example will help you find the solution you are looking for. Jack here may have a great bod and a top set of genes, but all that means is that he may not have to work as hard as some of us do. For those of us with a physically inferior set of genes, you can still get that awesome body. Just have to work a little harder to get it. And for a majority of you, a solid diet plan is your golden ticket.
Our friend Jack has a somewhat lax, yet smart diet plan. He knows his body, and it's limits. He has a faster than normal metabolism, so he has the ability to eat certain foods that are not really considered "diet like" and still be able to maintain his physique. But still, he always keeps in mind that he is getting older, and his more healthy than average metabolic rate may not be guaranteed in the long run. So he takes care to eat foods high in fiber and good fats. Protein from shakes and certain meats like boneless chicken, and usually oatmeal in the morning. He tries to refrain from eating out too much, so that he has better control over his calorie intake, and if he knows that he will be out of the house by the time a meal rolls around, he makes sure to pack a pre made meal to go before hand. Which indeed is a good way to ensure that no hidden calories can piggy-back their way into your system sources like fast food. But one thing is for certain, if you find yourself out without a prepacked meal and you do have to make a stop at a fast food restaurant, do the right thing and order smart. Depending on what your fitness goal is, you would want to tailor your inside and outside eating habits to fit that goal. And from the hour and a half that I spent with Jack, it is most evident that after all these years of honing and sculpting his body, he is a master at that.
I've spoken to a lot of guys about fitness and their body, and most of them are so confident in themselves that they are on the brink of narcissism. And there is nothing wrong with that. It is a wonderful thing to be proud of your body and bodybuilding accomplishments. But there was something different about Jack. Jack was indeed confident as well as modest, if not almost bashful. Lol and that in itself told me a lot about him. He spoke so matter-of-factly about his body and not just that, but in reference to how other people, from loved ones to strangers reacted to his physique, it was clear that he took pride in those reactions, but just from listening to him, it was also clear that he didn't keep his body fit for them. He did it for himself. To be proud of himself. And I thought that was really awesome, because in no way did he come off as a superficial asshole.

Now most of you are thinking that a middle aged man like Jack could not have gotten to this physical landmark and stayed there without some help from an outside source. Help from say a personal trainer? Well yes and no. When asked, it turns out that six months ago, Jack did indeed seek the assistance of a personal trainer for approximately a ten week period. When I inquired as to why after so much time of essentially training on his own, did he decide to hire a trainer, it turns out the answer was pretty simple. At that point in his life, Jack felt that he was getting older, and knows that from now on, he would probably have to put in a bit more work than he had to before to get the same great results that once came so easily to him. So why not give it a shot? As I have stated many times before in previous posts, it is always useful to have outside sources of inspiration to help push yourself to new limits. And by this time, Jack figured that now was a good opportunity to collaborate with a professional to do some life planning, and get some motivation to set and break through to a new set of goals.
Now when it comes to things like supplements, Jack proves once again that maybe, just maybe, the more simplistic the better. Jack's total supplement use is simplified to only the following:Now most of you are thinking that a middle aged man like Jack could not have gotten to this physical landmark and stayed there without some help from an outside source. 1. Regular consumption of protein shakes, 20 grams per scoop, two scoops at one time to make 40 grams per shake
2. Multivitamins, daily use
3. Omega-3 tablets daily use
4. And finally (if this even counts as a "supplement", granola protein health bars. Yummy
And although Jack said that he plans to try out a few more things eventually, this is it for now. And I intend to give him my own two cents and suggestions LOL.
You know another thing that I find funny? When you see someone who has a pretty hot body, and obviously have not a problem turning heads (they turned yours), they still have various holdups about their appearance. I have yet to meet someone, no matter what their body looks like, who is completely satisfied with they way they look (and if you do or you are one of them who is completely satisfied, shoot me an email at sacfitguy.bodyoflife@gmail.com or go to the contact page and shoot me a message. I want to profile you for the site as an anomaly LOL). And strangely, Jack was no exception. As what was stated earlier in this post, he could see himself getting bigger, he also wants to rid himself of his "chicken legs", by building those up as well. There is nothing wrong with a little improvement. There is ALWAYS room for improvement, no matter how little. But as long as you don't allow that desire to come at the cost of your confidence in yourself, it may actually be a healthy thing to pursue, the pursuit of perfection. And although such a thing can never be attained, it makes for good sport along the way.
Lastly, but most definitely not least, Jack's sex life. How has Jack's wonderful body affected his sex life? Well how do you think? Let's face it guys, for those of us who are in an endless pursuit of a great physique and those of us who just want to be buffed out, ripped and sexy, all do it because we are actually in pursuit of physical fulfillment. When your body is on point, lots of people tend to want to have lots of sex with you, when lots of people want to have lots of sex with you, you can have lots of sex. So I wasn't surprised at all by Jack's response to my questions in regards to this particular subject.
When I am with someone and I take off all of my clothes, it feels great to know that they like what they see. You look at them look at you, and you can totally tell that they are admiring your body. It makes you feel really good and confident to stand there before someone naked and know that they want you.

Now doesn't that sound like all of us? Who wouldn't want their body to be admired by everyone. To know you are physically desirable because all of the hard work you have put into your body has finally paid off. Once you put in the hard work and maintain that work ethic, you will reap the benefits. And THAT is Jack. T in a nutshell. A man who is totally dedicated to himself in every way, and I think he can serve as an inspiration to us all. Even me.
If anyone has any questions for Jack, send me a message via the contact page, and I will make sure he gets it. Every month or so, I will be reinterviewing Jack and post the updates here, so check back...
Until we meet again guys,
Aaron, SacFitGuy
